
Wes has been employed by the Learning Assistance Program at Appalachian since 1986. For eleven years, he served as first Coordinator, then Director of the federally funded Upward Bound Program. In the fall of 1997, Wes made a transition to direct all tutorial services for the Learning Assistance Program and Appalachian and did so for another eleven years. Wes is now the LAP Director of Support Services overseeing a number of software systems that are used for program management. He also oversees all of Appalachian's Departmental Help Lab settings. Wes received his BS degree in Zoology from North Carolina State University in 1980 and an M.A. in Agency Counseling from Appalachian in 1987. Wes has had career experiences in the field of outdoor education and the outdoor retail industry. His current interests focus on restoring an older home and garden in the downtown Boone area with his wife Lynne and two daughters, fly-fishing and becoming established as a watercolor artist. contact Wes
